Birthplace
of St. Daniel Comboni
Limone
on lake Garda
It is a
very nice village on the western cost of Lake Garda, in the province
of Brescia, northern Italy, on the border with the province of
Trento.
Greenhouse
for lemons
Thanks
to the good climate, people used to cultivate lemons. This is the 'limonaia'
where the parents of St. Daniel Comboni, Luigi and Domenica, were
living and cultivating lemons for the owner of the greenhouse.
His
Call

Domenica
and Luigi Comboni had eight children. Seven of them died and, apart
from the eldest who lived until he was twenty-one, Daniel was the
only remaining alive.
For
this reason he had to face a great personal struggle in order to
reach his final decision. The struggle between his dream for the
African mission and the difficult situation of his parents.
